Chris’s Narrative.

Hi. My name is Chris and I am from Poland. My background is Polish Special Forces, starting with the Air Assault Battalions and from there I moved forward into a unit called GROM, which is the equivalent of Delta Force.

Although I had the necessary military experience as a Major in the army, I opted to attend the course based on the reputation it has acquired here in Eastern Europe.

One would think that having a military background is all one needs for work in this
career field. That is not the case as I found out.

The mindset and operational procedures are different, especially in the Protection portion, and not at all similar to how the military does business. However, like the military, the Center focuses a lot on planning which I have found to be a vital element to the success of the mission.
Like so many graduates, I have been all over the world. I just completed a contract in Iraq.
Last year I was in the Caribbean sky diving with some of the instructors from the Center, at the behest of the host nation Air Force. The Center also taught me how to Scuba dive, by the way. We went cave diving during some down time together.
For the future, I return to Afghanistan as a civilian in April of 2009 where I already have agreed to meet Shawn in Kabul for lunch.
I will then be spending the better part of a year as a trainer for the government, teaching a number of tactical techniques to the Afghan Army and Police.

I think the most interesting facet of the program for me has been the conversion from Special Operations to the civilian sector. In so doing, I have had the privilege of working with a wide variety of individuals of all sorts of backgrounds. I also quite enjoy the camaraderie of the industry and having the opportunity to travel all over the world.

I have no regrets. I also highly endorse it for those seeking a career in this particular field. It’s certainly not the easiest profession, but has to rank among the most satisfying. I am doing something worthwhile and that is very important for me. I look forward to meeting some of you as I will be coming to America for a visit in fall of 2009.Stay safe. Chris
